Dog Spay and Neuter

Dog Spay and Neuter

Dog spay and neuter are recommended surgical procedures for a dog. Spaying involves removing the female dogs’ reproductive organs, including the ovaries and uterus, rendering them unable to reproduce. The dog neutering procedure is for male dogs, and it involves removing reproductive organs like the testicles. These procedures are beneficial to your pet. The benefits of dog spay and neutering include:

  •  Population control
  •  Reduce cases of unwanted births
  •  Reduce cancer risks related to reproductive organs.

Our animal clinic offers dog spay and neuter. We have experienced veterinarians who perform the surgeries safely and effectively.

After the health checks, your pet is ready for surgery. Our vets will instruct you on when to feed the animal and notify you of the time of the surgery. We use general anesthesia to keep your pet more comfortable during the procedure. After the surgery, your dog is in our comfortable animal clinic to rest and recover from the anesthesia.

Post-Surgery Care

After confirming that your dog is doing alright and ready to leave, we offer post-surgery care. It involves certified guidelines on how to best care for your dog for a faster recovery. We define what you should control, including the food, activities, grooming, and resting time. We set a follow-up appointment in a few weeks to confirm your dog has fully recovered.

Dog Spay & Neuter FAQs

Why Should I Spay or Neuter My Dog

Dog spay and neuter procedures are recommended to prevent unwanted births and reduce cases of life-threatening reproductive-related diseases like cancer.

When Should I Spay or Neuter My Dog?

Our veterinarians recommend dog spaying and neutering between 6 and 9 months. It is important to note that different breeds of dogs may have different standard times to do the dog spay and neuter procedures. Hence, ensure you consult with our veterinarians for this operation.

Will My Dog’s Personality Change after the Spay and Neuter Procedure?

No! Dog spay and neuter do not mess with your dog’s personality. However, due to anesthesia effects, the dog looks quiet for the first 24-48 hours.

Will My Dog Gain Weight After the Dog Spay or Neuter Procedure?

It depends. After the dog spaying or neutering procedures, your dog may become less active than before, especially for males. After all, they are less sexually active. Hence, some of them tend to gain weight. However, if you control their diet and provide healthy food portions, your dog is unlikely to gain weight.
